Super Eagles goalie Maduka Okoye dreams of playing for Chelsea
Maduka Okoye, goalkeeper for Nigeria’s Super Eagles and Udinese in Serie A, has revealed his admiration for Chelsea, naming the London club as his dream destination in the English Premier League. Okoye shared his thoughts during an interview with SportyTV, where he expressed his respect for Chelsea while remaining focused on his current role at Udinese.
Playing in the Premier League is a dream for me, Okoye said. "In the Premier League, it’s Chelsea. I wouldn’t say I’m a Chelsea fan, but I’ve always kind of supported them.
The 24 year old goalkeeper, who has rejuvenated his career at Udinese after a challenging stint at Watford, emphasised his happiness with his current club. Since joining the Italian side in August 2023, Okoye has made 33 appearances, kept eight clean sheets, and contributed significantly to Udinese’s climb to ninth place in Serie A this season.
Having previously excelled in the Eredivisie with Sparta Rotterdam, Okoye faced limited opportunities at Watford before finding his stride in Italy. He was part of the Super Eagles squad for their recent AFCON qualifier against Benin, though he did not feature in the game.
